I don't know what they're doing anymore. They can put a fantastic live show, but the new albums are getting redundant, even thought I respect they're trying to make up for lost time by knocking out a new record every year. But it's sounding the same, nothing new, and nothing inviting. Some bands should reunite for the money and tour the hits, and some bands can reunite and make new records. Few can pull off the latter. Perhaps these records are reasons to tour. Like I said, I don't know what they're doing anymore. I would think Lou Barlow, such a diverse and prolific songwriter could tell the difference between the classic Dino material, and the filler stuff. This new album sounds all filler. Nothing stands out apart from some interesting guitar work by the always impressive J Mascis. They either need a new producer who will change up their sound, or stop making records and just tour the hits.
A new album every year? 2007, 2009, and 2012, and they reformed in 2004. If they sound the same, why are they no longer inviting? Lou Barlow was never the main songwriter for the band. And J Mascis is the producer.
ReplyDeleteAll of their new albums suck. They should stick to touring.
ReplyDeleteThey still put on an impressive show!
ReplyDeleteThis sucks.
ReplyDeleteBeyond and Farm were decent but I have yet to make it through all of I bet on sky. I just can't bring myself to listen to it. Filler is a good way to describe it.
ReplyDeleteThis is their worst album ever. It is aimed at their late-teen listeners who only have sorry ass modern rock to compare it to. Sorry! 2/10.
ReplyDeleteIt really does suck.
