This is something fresh. Mixing dream pop with new wave elements and some My Bloody Valentine type vocals, Chromatics may have earned the album of the year award (or rather album of the week). This kind of music can come off boring live, but hyper intense on record. Either way, it's a good new sound. I'm very interested to see where Chromatics go after this. I'm always impressed just to hear something that doesn't completely suck these days.
Saw them live in London last year and was actually totally surprised by how good it was. Some of the tracks in this new album is not as beat-driven as the ones in the previous ones, but when played live they really rolled out the urge and energy they're supposed to have. If you get a chance to see them, definitely recommend! :)
